Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense is here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we’re linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there’s this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that’s possible. Against all common sense, I’m falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?
No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

Luckily I was able to get this book four days early, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. First off, you have Daemon Black, who can be very egotistical, but is undeniable sexy. And I know we all want him as our boyfriends. This book is more about Katy and Daemon’s connection, and how it affects those around them. Katy thinks that Daemon’s newfound attraction to her is based on the connection they share, so basically she thinks that he is being forced to like her. Then you have Katy who doesn’t want to like Daemon because he always gives her the cold shoulder or is mean to her. So you can see how this story is already exciting. I love it when the two main characters have chemistry, but are afraid to act upon it, in fear of what the other thinks. It makes you want to continue reading, to see that if in the end they finally get together, or they continue to drive each other crazy.

This book does exactly that. It starts with the signature pen poke, and ends with someone returning home. And in this book Katy, gets a taste of a normal life with Blake, but you guessed it, Katy is destined to live a life full of excitement, and hot guys…a life a lot of us wish we could have.

We all want guys like Daemon. End of story. The sexy ones, who appear to have attitude problems, but secretly they are big softies, who only act tough to keep a reputation in check. If I could take Katy’s place I would. Reading about how they interact with each other, to me seems like that’s how real couples would act. IF you compare couples from other books, normally they constantly are getting along. No couple in real life gets along perfect. One of them is bound to aggravate the other at some point, and I think Jennifer captures that perfectly with Daemon and Katy. You can tell that there is undeniable chemistry between them, but they argue about everything, and then they have their moments when everything is okay; moments when they can just talk. I think that their relationship is perfect; it is realistic. Neither one is solely depending on the other. In the end they balance each other out.

I wish I could jump into these books and be a part of the story. If I could participate in my favorite books, I would be ecstatic. But if you are looking for a book, and you want to be sucked in, read Onyx. I started it one day and finished it that night. The book grabs you and sucks you into the world of Katy and Daemon, and by the end of the book, you are left wanting more.
